Overview
The Chopicalqui Mountain is the third peak in the Huascaran massif. Located in the Cordillera Blanca, between the two peaks of the Huascaran and Contrahierbas, in the Yungay province.
Our climb will be for the south west ridge, a moderate climb (PD).
Itinerary
Day 01: Huaraz – Llanganuco – Chopicalqui Base Camp (4200m)
We will aboard the bus to go along the Callejón de Huaylas in the north side of Huaraz, after driving for 2 hours aprox we going up to the Ancush Valley between Huascarán and Chopicalqui, we will arrive to the Base Camp around 2pm. overnight camping at (4200m/13776ft).
Day 02: Base Camp – Moraine Camp (4700m)
After the breakfast in the Base Camp we will hike up to the Moraine Camp for about 4 hours, during this hike we will enjoy the splendid view in the north site like Pisco, Huandoys and Chacraraju peaks along the way, after arrive to the camp in the afternnon we will check our climbing equipments for the next day, dinner and overnight Camping at (4700m/15416ft).
Day 03: Moraine Camp – Camp 1 of Chopicalqui (5500m)
After the breakfast we will climb up for about 40 minutes over the rocky paths to get the glacier, where we will put our climbing gears to start climbing for about 2 hours to the Camp 1, where we will enjoy the splendid views of nice peaks like Chacraraju, Huandoys, etc, overnight over the glacier at (5500m/18040ft).
Day 04: Camp 1 – Climb up Chopicalqui – Moraine Camp (6345m)
We will leave at 3:00 AM in the morning after breakfast, climbing for about 4 to 5 hours will attempt the summit (6354m/2841ft), then after enjoy the views for few minutes will come back to the Camp 1, continue go down to Moraine Camp for about 2 hours more, arriving around 4:00 PM, Overnight Camping at (4700m/15416ft).
Day 05: Moraine Camp – Base Camp – Huaraz
We will descend to the Base Camp for about 2 hours, continue go down to the car route in there is waiting our private transport, we continue go down to Yungay, after this we will continue traveling along the Callejon de Huaylas to Huaraz for about 1 hour more.
Arriving to Huaraz around 17:00 hours approximately.
Transfer to the Hotel.

Mountain climbing gear:
- 2 technical ice axes

- Minimum 4 changes of t-shirt (polyamide – cotton – wool)

- Waterproof climbing pant.

Prices
Chopicalqui Expedition:
- All the Information is for a private expedition.
- All the information addressed in this itinerary is an approximation that could vary according to the weather, social protests (blocking of roads), physical condition of the client, etc.
How to book
A deposit of 30% must be made to confirm the reservation;
The balance must be paid in dollars or soles (local currency). The total payment must be made no later than 1 day before the start of the trek. In case of non-payment of the balance within the given time, Hidden Perú reserves the right to cancel the reservation. The deposit previously paid and invested in the preparation of the trek are not refundable.
The balance settled, no refund is possible because the final budget of the entire trek is definitely invested.
Important notes
It may be that changes happen the day before or the day of departure. It is depending on the bad weather, the state of the roads and strikes likely to disturb the organization of the hike or to make it dangerous. In these circumstances, Hidden Perú offers you an alternative: either dates or different circuits.
Travellers have an obligation to inform us of their state of health and must bring their own medicines.
